HC Chapter 2: I Fear You (I)

Jing Rong’s voice contained a smile, but to Dong Ci, it sounded like a viper – immediately and cruelly biting her heart.

“No, I don’t want it.”

The bed underneath was soft, but Dong Ci protectively curled up her body as soon as the contact with it was made. Her eyes were red, looking just like a scared little white rabbit.

“If you are so afraid of me now, why did you make me angry in the first place?”

Jing Rong hooked up his lips and slowly took off his jacket. Just as he was about to begin removing his shirt, his fingertips suddenly stopped moving.

He lightly glanced at Dong Ci, his profile looking pleasant and harmless under the warm yellow light of the lamp.

“Ah, since you are here to serve me, why don’t you help me take off my clothes?” He asked and quickly retied the buttons which had been unbuttoned before.

Seeing Dong Ci’s stunned look as she sat in the corner of the bed, Jing Rong tilted his head and his previous light smile turned shallow.

“Xiao Ci, are you waiting for me to get you?”

“Jing Rong…” Dong Ci whispered with a terrified expression.

She helplessly shook her head, whimpering like a small animal with no way out. Because of her panic, the thin sheets beneath her were completely crumpled.

For a long time, Jing Rong has been using this gesture to harass and possess her. These were the darkest times of her life.

“Let me go, please, let me go!” The darkest memories of her heart have been brought out, and Dong Ci felt as though she was falling apart as she stared into his eyes.

Seeing Jing Rong approaching her step by step, she seemed to be more and more frightened. She quickly turned around and tried to crawl under the bed with her hands and feet, but he grabbed her ankle.

“Want to escape again?”

Jing Rong’s voice rang behind her, sounding just as smooth as the most expensive whiskey pleasantly sliding down one’s throat, yet covered in a layer of coldness. His slender fingertips clenched her delicate ankles, and with one slight tug, she was completely pulled out.

“Xiao Ci, you are really continuing to disappoint me today,” he said as he stretched out his arms and put Dong Ci back in his embrace, pinching her chin and kissing her fiercely. There seemed no other way to express his anger.

The strong and deep kiss left Dong Ci completely breathless. Jing Rong’s tongue entwined with her own appendage as his domineering breath occupied her mouth completely.

There was a tingling sensation in her lips, and Dong Ci couldn’t help but loudly exclaim as she felt the sweet taste of blood pouring into her mouth. Jing Rong bit her lip!

Finally, Jing Rong decided to let her breathe as he retreated slightly, finding a comfortable posture on the bed. And yet, his arms were still firmly encircling her waist, completely caging her and preventing even the slightest thought of escape from appearing inside her mind.

“Xiao Ci, don’t make me even angrier.”

Jing Rong caressed her small face and motioned for her to continue to undress himself. Dong Ci had no way of escaping his arms, so she could only bite her lip and help him unbutton his shirt.

Her lips were numb from the kiss, and the air around her was saturated with the domineering scent of his body. Even if she lowered her head to the lowest point possible, she could still feel the heat of Jing Rong’s breath spraying on the back of her neck.

This wasn’t the first time that Dong Ci helped him undress. Jing Rong had forced her many times before to help him, even before they were married.

Dong Ci worked very slowly because her fingertips were still trembling, but Jing Rong’s patience was surprisingly good. Not only did he not urge her to hurry up, but he also gently stroked her hair.

When all of the buttons were finally undone, his strong chest appeared in Dong Ci’s sight. Although she had seen this body countless times, she still felt shy every time it appeared in front of her eyes.

“You have done well,” Jing Rong admired her skillful work before kissing her cheek. Then he pointed at his pants and motioned for her to carry on.

Dong Ci fell into a trance as a familiar scene flashed before her eyes:

‘Are you shy, Xiao Ci? Why are your hands shaking?’

‘Good girl, don’t be afraid. Believe me, after you get used to me, everything will be just fine.’

The past scenes once again played out in her mind and Dong Ci’s eyes couldn’t help but get moist with tears, making her sight blurry.

The moment the belt was pulled off, Jing Rong quickly laid her down on her back, pressing her under his own body and spreading a rain of kisses down her neck.

“Why are you crying again?”

Jing Rong helplessly caressed her cheek and leaned up to kiss her tears dry.

“Xiao Ci is so stupid. Obviously wanting to serve me, yet still needing me to worry about you,” he whispered before biting her earlobe. Because of the intense emotions he was feeling, Jing Rong’s chuckle seemed low and magnetic as it rang throughout the room.

Dong Ci had never been able to resist his teasing and the pale face couldn’t help but blush. This reaction made Jing Rong feel very satisfied.

Jing Rong liked to see Dong Ci whimpering softly at him. Whenever her small face was red and angry, he always loved to hug her tightly, as if she was all his.

How could he allow her to escape?

Who made him love Xiao Ci so much that he didn’t want to stop?

Reminiscing about his recent indulgence towards her, Jing Rong’s eyes narrowed slightly, and the deep emotions that briefly appeared in his eyes disappeared completely.

Today, he must cool down his heart and punish his little Xiao Ci…

The lamp was soon extinguished…

Dong Ci’s physical strength has always been poor, and even though that kind of physical exercise wouldn’t last too long, she was still completely exhausted, panting softly on Jing Rong’s chest.

The punishment is almost completed…

Jing Rong narrowed his eyes, combed her sweat-soaked hair to the side of her head, and softly asked: “Does Xiao Ci know what she did wrong?”

“I know I was wrong,” Dong Ci muttered as she dug her nails into  her palm.

“Will you still dare to run away after this?”

“I won’t dare,” she shook her head and continued with a trembling voice, “I will always be by your side…”

…Until you finally loathe me and are willing to let me go.

Seemingly seeing through her thoughts, Jing Rong’s black eyes lit up with a smile as he looked at her with fascination.

“That’s not right,” he stroked the back of her neck and leaned down to whisper into her ear, “I want you to stay with me forever.”

When Dong Ci finally finished copying down the school rules five times, she was the only student left in the classroom. She glanced at the sky outside, pulled up her school bag, and took the copied school rules to the office on the fourth floor.

Because the fourth floor belonged to the teachers’ office, there were almost no students there, and the hallway was extremely quiet.

Not far away, the door of the principal’s office was wide open, and a faint sound of conversation going on could still be vaguely heard. Dong Ci slightly paused on her way before walking forward.

“Jing Rong, your class teacher told me that you haven’t been coming to class for the past two months.”

“That’s about right, so?”

Perhaps, because of the recent cold, Dong Ci’s head was still a little fuzzy. She, who had never been curious, briefly glanced inside the room when passing by the principal’s office. And that glance was enough to let her see the teenager sitting inside.

He was lazily leaning back on the sofa, his cheekbone supported by the back of his hand, and his beautifully curved chin proudly raised, looking like polished white jade.

Dong Ci rubbed her nose and was about to turn her gaze away when the young man’s low and wanton laughter reached her ears. She turned her head in a hurry, only to find that the teenager, who had been facing away from her before, turned his head in her direction at some point in time. He looked at her without reservation, a playful smile dancing on his lips.

His eyes were extraordinarily beautiful, and there was a little bit of starlight in the deep blackness, tempting one with a smile.

For the first time in her life, she peeked in because of curiosity.

Dong Ci’s face turned red, color spreading down to the roots of her hair. The previously chaotic head sobered up for a moment, and she quickly lowered her eyes, rushing down the hallway and past the open doors.

“Teacher, I copied it,” she handed out the notes. Even as she entered the home teacher’s office, her ears were still hot.

The home teacher gave a quick glance at the school rules she copied, put down the pen in her hand, and focused on educating the youth: “Dong Ci, the teacher knows that you study well, but even if you do – you can’t sleep in class. Do you understand?”

“Teacher, I know I was wrong. There won’t be a next time,” Dong Ci bowed her head very sincerely.

When the teacher saw that her ears were red, she thought that the student was ashamed of her behavior and the words that were about to come out of her mouth turned into a sigh.

“Okay, quickly go home.”

“Goodbye, teacher.”

The heating in the office was insufficient, and when she finally came out, Dong Ci could not help but cough a few times as her body trembled with cold.

The weather has turned cold recently, and she has always been weak. Even though she tried to pay attention, she still caught a cold.

Obviously, when she bought the medicine, she had told the doctor not to prescribe the one that would make her sleepy. And yet, she didn’t expect that after taking the medicine before going to class, she would still fall asleep.

However, these reasons Dong Ci did not tell the teacher.

There were very few people left on the school premises. Dong Ci exhaled and quickly walked towards the school gate. But just as she reached a turn, she suddenly saw a man and a woman intimately hugging and sharing a fierce kiss in the corner.

To go down this path, she must pass by the couple.

Dong Ci sighed and decided to go around the other way to avoid embarrassment. Unexpectedly, just as she turned around, she hit a soft wall.

“I’m sorry,” Dong Ci quickly apologized. She didn’t expect that someone was behind herself and was slightly taken aback. She panicked and withdrew from the man’s arms.

When she looked up, she realized that it was the teenager she saw in the principal’s office. Dong Ci remembered that the principal called him Jing Rong.

“What are you looking at?”

On a closer look, Dong Ci found that his exquisite face was even more beautiful than any male or female she had seen before – with red lips, white teeth, and black eyes shining brightly.

Jing Rong took in the panic which was reflected in her eyes, looked behind her, and then lightly chuckled.

“You seem to like peeking.”

He was a lot taller than her, and even though he carried a laid back look, he still gave her a sense of oppression. Dong Ci tugged her bag’s strap onto her shoulder, weakly explaining that she was just passing by.

“Is that so?” Jing Rong said as he stepped forward, the distance between them instantly shortening. He leaned in slightly closer to Dong Ci, and suddenly touched her earlobe. “Your ears are so red.”

Like a frightened rabbit, Dong Ci quickly stepped back, covering her ears, and looking at him with surprise.

The couple behind them also finally noticed them. The boy seemed to know Jing Rong, and he pulled his girlfriend over as he walked towards them. He even complained, “Jing Rong, you are so slow. Do you know how long I’ve been waiting downstairs? How long have I been enduring the cold wind?”

“I think that you were doing very well,” the boy’s words were quickly refuted.

Taking advantage of the conversation between the two people, Dong Ci wanted to leave. But just as she took a few steps, Jing Rong grabbed her wrist. “What is your name?”

The touch on the wrist was hot, and Dong Ci was unable to shake it off. She didn’t want to tell him her name. Intuition told her that this teenager wasn’t as harmless as his looks suggested.

“You don’t want to tell me?”

Jing Rong put some force in his hand and pulled her up against himself with a light tug. “I won’t let you go if you don’t tell me,” he assured her with a smile.

This is simply a demon with the appearance of an angel!

“Xiao Ci, my name is Xiao Ci!” She quickly made up a name and avoided his eyes, in case he could tell that she lied.

“Xiao, Ci,” Jing Rong muttered. His dark and clear eyes seemed to be able to see directly through her.

Reaching out to touch her small face, Jing Rong observed her with a smile. “I hope that you didn’t lie to me. Otherwise, I might be unhappy.”

T/N: Xiao used in the previous chapter and before the school arc is basically an endearing term, so when Xiao Ci was used before, it meant “Small Ci” or “Little Ci” (as far as I understand, and Google told me ^^). Xiao used when Dong Ci lied about her name is said with a different tone, so it’s actually a different word.

  1. Damn. I can’t set my mood right about the male lead. He looks and acts like a domineering, selfish man, obsessive lover and he even seemed apathetic. Maybe, there is a history of his cold characteristic but with the current chapter, I just can’t deal with his almost empty like character. Moreover, the female lead is so-so, the typical weak and shy girl who was held captive by the big bad wolf. Anyways, this chapter was beautifully translated.

    1. Yeah, the ML can be a bit contradictory, especially in the beginning – it’s very difficult to empathize with him. His backstory is later revealed, but it’s still a long way to go.
