HC Chapter 28: I Obey You (VII)

She didn’t show any mercy as her teeth sunk into Jing Rong’s thin flesh. Dong Ci just wanted to vent the resentment that accumulated in her heart – it was the only thing on her mind at the time.

“Hsss—”

Jing Rong took a deep breath, and quickly pinched the back of the girl’s neck, lifting her head. Seeing that she still dared to flap her mouth in an attempt to bite him, Jing Rong’s gaze sunk. One of his hands firmly pinched her chin, making her mouth unable to close.

“You seem to have a lot of courage, huh?” Feeling the throbbing pain in his neck, Jing Rong sneered at the girl and put his finger in her mouth. Then, in a bone-chilling voice, he asked, “Do you want to try taking another bite?”

Dong Ci no longer dared to do anything… Most of her anger already disappeared, leaving only fear of the consequences.

“Why don’t you want to bite anymore?”

Seeing that Dong Ci no longer dared to bite him, Jing Rong started to act more freely as his slender finger kept on sweeping around her mouth, entangling her soft tongue.

His eyes were full of bad intentions as he stuck out the tip of his tongue, and subconsciously licked his thin lips. His face approached her as he gently told the girl, “Xiao Ci, lick my fingers with your tongue.”

This shameless scoundrel!

It has already been a few minutes since Dong Ci was unable to close her upper and lower jaws, but she still refused to relent to Jing Rong’s request. However, her tongue was still unable to avoid his fingers, no matter how hard she tried to prevent it.

Seeing that she had no intention to cooperate with him, Jing Rong quickly brought in another finger and caught her tongue by pinching the two of them together.

“Where else do you want to hide?” Jing Rong laughed at her poor defense techniques. He embraced Dong Ci, and whispered into her ear, “My clever Xiao Ci, hurry up and lick. After all, this is a lesson…”

He wants to teach her?

Dong Ci’s eyes misted over. A flame once again ignited in her heart, and just as she decisively tried to bite his finger…

“Oh?”

The tips of her teeth barely touched the man’s fingers, when Jing Rong squinted at her with a smile. Dong Ci’s heart shook. She raised her eyes to meet his cold ones and no longer dared to do anything.

“Ah—”

As though punishing her, Jing Rong forcefully pushed two of his fingers inside her mouth, making Dong Ci whimper with pain.

“Next time, I won’t be so merciful.”

Unable to resist her pitiful appearance, Jing Rong’s heart softened, and he took his hand out of her mouth. Then he pressed their heads together and pulled her into a hard kiss.

“Get up and dress yourself. After breakfast, I will take you to see your mother.”

Even though Dong Ci deliberately tried to forget what happened last night, the pain in her body always reminded her of it.

Dong Ci stood in front of the mirror and looked at the bright marks decorating her skin. She bit her lip and forcefully rubbed them. The more she rubbed, the more tears accumulated in her eyes, but she refused to let them fall.

Can’t cry…

Dong Ci took a few deep breaths, suppressing her tumbling emotions. Remembering her mother, who was still waiting for her in the hospital, Dong Ci clenched her fists with self-encouragement.

I must stay strong!

After filling her stomach with food, she recovered her physical strength, but her body was still uncomfortable. When Jing Rong discovered her unusual behavior, he directly got up and, picking her up into his arms, carried her to the car. When they were finally seated inside, he looked down at her and asked, “Is it still painful?”

Dong Ci’s eyelashes trembled. She stubbornly pursed her lips and ignored him. Today, she didn’t plan on paying any attention to him whatsoever, especially when he questioned her about the state of her body.

“Don’t be angry, alright? Next time, I will be gentler.”

“…”

When the car reached the hospital, Jing Rong still wanted to carry her inside his arms, but Dong Ci firmly refused:

“I can go by myself.”

Dong Ci stubbornly pushed him away and got out of the car. However, just as she stepped on the ground, her legs weakened and she fell forward. Fortunately, Jing Rong hurriedly embraced her from behind, preventing her from tumbling onto the ground.

“I don’t want you to carry me, I can go by myself!”

When Jing Rong once again wanted to pick her up, Dong Ci resisted as though it was a matter of life and death. But when she looked up and saw Jing Rong’s cold face, Dong Ci remembered who she was dealing with. She lowered her head and explained in a dull voice, “There are too many people in the hospital. I don’t want to be so high-profile. I can walk, it’s just that it will be slightly slow.”

In fact, what she was most afraid of, was her mother seeing her like this.

But as it turned out, Dong Ci didn’t have to worry about it after all – her mother was lying in the ward, with no sign of waking up. Dong Ci leaned against the door and watched her mother through the small window. A few minutes passed before she finally decided to open the door and go in. But just as her hand twisted the doorknob, she was stopped by a doctor:

“Are you Ms. Song’s daughter?” Doctor Qin Qing showed a friendly smile to the petite girl, and requested, “Can you come with me? I want to tell you something in private.”

Dong Ci’s heart thumped as she followed Qin Qing into the office. She had a bad feeling, and she finally couldn’t resist asking directly: “Did something happen to my mother?”

There was a brief silence before Dr. Qin redirected the question with one of her own:

“Have you ever noticed anything unusual about your mother? She seems to have been suffering from depression for a long time.”

Qin Qing turned over the case, which was full of details about her mother, and lightly explained, “Ms. Song’s depression is very serious. Coupled with excessive sadness, which accumulated over the last few days, the situation isn’t very good.”

“How could this be?”

Dong Ci’s eyes were wide open as she tried to recall her mother’s recent behavior. But except for some abnormalities she noticed a few days ago, everything else seemed normal.

“Ms. Song is overworked. Her body is already very weak, and coupled with sadness and depression… I sincerely suggest you let her remain in the hospital to receive treatment.”

“…”

‘I apologize. Mr. Dong was seriously injured. He stopped breathing on the way to the operation, and we were unable to resuscitate him.’

Qin Qing’s emotional voice reminded Dong Ci of another scene – the scene of her father’s death. When she and her mother hurried to the hospital, they saw her father lying motionless on the hospital bed, covered in a white cloth. What stood out to Dong Ci the most, were the doctor’s words, coupled with a few bright red stains on the otherwise white blanket.

At that time, the hospital seemed very cold. Dong Ci’s body was also cold, and even as the doctor departed with a few apologies, a deep shadow was left in her mind.

“Will my mother get better?” Dong Ci finally asked, her eyes slightly blank, even as her voice trembled.

“The only thing I can say in this situation – there is a possibility of treatment. The psychological illnesses are always slightly harder to cure, and a lot depends on the patient and their family’s efforts,” Qin Qing gently explained. Seeing the little girl’s reddening eyes, she sighed and opened her mouth to comfort, but finally decided against it.

Most frequently, a depressed patient is likely to live in the state of in-between of ‘being better’ and ‘cured’. Whether or not a patient makes the full recovery, apart from the doctors’ treatments and guidance, the patient’s cooperation is also needed.

Ms. Song’s depression is very serious. She has been immersed in her own emotions for a very long time, and she is very moody. If such a state continues, she is likely to develop suicidal tendencies.

“If you agree with my suggestion, follow me to go through the hospitalization procedures.”

The hospital that Jing Rong sent her mother to is famous in the city. It has also achieved high success in treating patients with depression and other mental issues. Of course, Dong Ci wanted her mother to receive the best treatments, the best doctors, and nurses, but… She had no money to pay for these expenses.

“I can help you, but with one condition – you will move in with me and live in my house from now on.

“I can send her to the VIP ward, give her the best doctor, and even find the most professional nurse to take care of her…

“But Xiao Ci, are you willing?”

“…”

Willing?

Dong Ci sneered in her heart – does she still have a choice at this point?

She looked at her mother, who was peacefully sleeping in the ward, and remembered the countless times that Jing Rong promised her before, ‘Xiao Ci, you will beg me.’

At that time, she found it ridiculous. But she really didn’t expect that those promises would become reality in the future. Now, she not only had to beg him – but she also had to live with him.

“I am.”

Last night, everything changed.

Dong Ci knew that she would no longer be able to look back after those words left her mouth.

The college entrance examination was getting closer, and Dong Ci hurried to the school after taking a day off.

“Xiao Ci, you are with me now – you don’t have to work so hard.” When Dong Ci was about to leave with her textbooks clutched in her hands, Jing Rong walked downstairs wearing casual clothes, and said with a smile: “Even if you don’t go to college, I am willing to support you.”

‘No need.’

Dong Ci really wanted to shove those words at him as coldly as she could have done just a few days ago, but now, she didn’t have that confidence.

At the moment, her debt to him was over two million yuan. To top it off, he was paying for her mother’s hospital bills.

Dong Ci bit her lip to avoid the temptation of opening her mouth and releasing a scathing remark.

The only hope she had left was to quickly enter the university and achieve her father’s dreams upon entering society. In any case, she will return all the money she owed to Jing Rong.

“Do you want to take the F University’s entrance examination?”

Jing Rong thought about it while tapping on the railings with his fingers, as though conceiving some unknown plans.

“If I remember correctly, Shi Ze’s J University is right next to it.”

“I am not taking the F University’s entrance exams because of Shi Ze…”

Jing Rong cocked his head slightly to the side and looked at her with a smile, “Did I say that you are doing this for Shi Ze?”

Dong Ci’s face paled as she faced his pitch-black eyes. Instantly, there was a bad premonition in her heart.

“Jing Rong, I beg you, don’t interfere with my entrance exams to F University, alright?”

Jing Rong hooked up the corner of his mouth but said nothing.

I must be admitted to F University, I must! Jing Rong mustn’t be allowed to destroy the only dream she has…

Dong Ci bit her lip and approached him. She plucked up her courage and stood on her toes, her arms wrapping around his neck. She raised her head and kissed his thin lips, whispering, “Please, I have to enter the F University.”

The path she imagined has diverged too much – she no longer wished for anything. She just hoped to smoothly start her student life at F University and for her mother’s depression to get better.

Her initiative made Jing Rong’s eyes darken. The tip of his nose smelled the sweet scent of her body. Jing Rong tightly hugged her and, casting his eyes down, breathed a hot puff of air on her neck.

“Give me a reason why I shouldn’t refuse you,” he whispered, leaning in to kiss the girl’s earlobe.

Dong Ci flinched but didn’t avoid his touch. She nervously grabbed her skirt, and cautiously took in a breath of air.

After that night, as long as Jing Rong was a little closer to her, her heart beat faster.

“My dad graduated from that university.”

“Is it that simple?” Jing Rong smiled, lightly rubbing his teeth against her ears.

Obviously, the reason wasn’t satisfying enough for him.

“My dad studied fashion design, and his lifelong dream was to start his studio and make the clothes he likes. He wanted his designs to become famous…” Dong Ci was trying to explain very seriously, but she soon felt that Jing Rong’s mind wasn’t focused on her words. Instead, his hand kept on wandering around her waist, tugging at her clothes. Dong Ci grabbed his dishonest hand, and demanded, “Jing Rong, are you listening to what I am saying?”

“Mm,” he nonchalantly muttered. Originally, he was holding her with one arm, but as soon as her voice fell, he firmly locked the girl in his arms.

He wasn’t listening, he was just focused on moving his hands!

“Xiao Ci, your reasons aren’t convincing enough.”

After a few months have passed, Dong Ci’s short hair grew out a lot. Jing Rong stroked her soft hair, and hummed before gently continuing, “You are so smart, you should know what I want to hear.”

Dong Ci’s eyes shook as struggle took place in her heart. Her lips trembled slightly, and the hand gripping Jing Rong’s shirt tightened its hold on it.

“As long as, as long as you don’t interfere with my application to F University, I will listen to you in everything.”

“Including my control of your future?”

Dong Ci felt suffocated. She hurriedly breathed in a few gulps of air, and finally nodded with some difficulty:

“Including that.”
